Four seasonal, local and quality products to enjoy in summer
With the arrival of heat, the gardens of the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat offer some of its tastiest products. At MuchaMasia we are lucky to be in the heart of the Llobregat Delta and connected to the Parc Agrari. We consume products grown right next to our home. Seasonal and quality products grown by trusted farmers. Here are four products that you can not miss this summer.
Cherries: the first of June
One of the fruits that heralds the arrival of summer are cherries. Intense red, cherries arrive on time when temperatures rise. In the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat, cherries are grown mainly in villages such as Santa Coloma de Cervelló and Torrelles de Llobregat.
It seems incredible that next to Barcelona such rich and valued cherries are grown. The only downside? Well, their season is very short and in three weeks there are almost no cherries left. Take advantage and eat cherries from the Parc Agrari because it is a real seasonal product.
El Prat melons, living history
From July onwards, the first melons from Prat de Llobregat come out. Known for decades, Prat melons have a unique flavor. The salinity of the soil of the Llobregat Delta increases the sweetness of this seasonal product. Agricultural tradition says that melons are harvested for St. James (July 28) and their season lasts until September. Although we are now used to eating melon throughout the year, it is now, in its real season, when the flavor is really appreciated. And what’s more, it is grown by the farmers of El Prat, favoring Kilometer Zero and food sovereignty.
Watermelon
If there is a fruit that clearly evokes summer, that is watermelon. Refreshing like few others, satiating like no other. Almost 100% of its content is water, so it is not fattening.
In the fields of the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat it is harvested in summer, when the sun is strongest and makes it fatter. The sweetness, as in melons, is marked by the soil conditions, with high salinity. Watermelons, which can weigh more than 5 kilos, are one of the best seasonal products that we can eat these days.
Tomatoes, the seasonal product par excellence
And if there is a king of summer in the seasonal products in the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat is undoubtedly the tomato. The tomatoes grown here taste like tomatoes and smell like tomatoes. They come in all varieties and sizes and start to be harvested in June and can be found until October.

Little preparation for such a rich flavor: sliced tomato, garlic, oil and basil. And if you accompany it with bread to soak the oil, you’ve got it made.
