In addition, the proximity of the sea gives the soil a salinity that offers special organoleptic characteristics. The Prat artichoke is recognized in the gastronomic world as a top product.

Strolling through the fields of the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat will allow you to discover the artichoke crops. Farmers strive to offer the best artichokes from November to April.

Buying directly from the farmers

One of the advantages of living in the Parc Agrari del Baix Llobregat is that we have these foods at our fingertips. The farmers pick them from their fields and in a few minutes they are already in their stores and in the markets. We recommend that you visit the stores of El Rebost del Pagès, La Masia Fruites i Verdures, Ca n’Aleix de la Madrona or El Pagès. All of them grow their own artichokes and serve them in store, without intermediaries and very fresh.

Every Saturday morning you can also buy them at the Mercat de Pagès. In the Pau Casals square, 5 minutes away from MuchaMasia, farmers exhibit their best products so you can buy them and take them directly to your kitchen or to the hostel. We remind you that you can cook in our kitchen with total freedom.

Where can you eat the artichoke?

And if you are too lazy to cook it, in El Prat you can choose from a wide range of restaurants that offer it in many ways. From the more traditional grilled at L’Artesà, to elaborated in risottos or in other proposals as in Cèntric GastroBar. At La Castellana they prepare them in chip or nest, and at Celler de l’All i Oli they even make artichoke flan.
