Discover the Best Run Races in El Prat de Llobregat and Barcelona

El Prat de Llobregat is an ideal place for running, a sport that has gained so many followers in recent years. It offers kilometres and kilometres of paths to run along, as we mentioned in the blog post titled Discover the Llobregat Delta by Bike from Our Mucha Masia. In addition, its athletics club, Pratenc, is one of the strongest in the area. It’s no surprise, then, that two fun runs are held in the town every year. In this blog post, focused on the best run races in El Prat and Barcelona, we’ll review them along with the most notable races in the Catalan capital.

Cursa Delta Prat

Held in May, usually on the second Sunday of the month. The course is completely flat, making it an ideal race for achieving a personal best, and participants can choose to run five or ten kilometres (one or two laps of the circuit).

Cursa Popular del Prat

This could be considered the twin sister of the Delta Prat Run, as it shares the same route and distances. In this case, it takes place in September, a week before the town’s Festa Major.

Cursa Sant Antoni

Now we move on to Barcelona. In January we have the first notable race: Cursa Sant Antoni. It covers a distance of ten kilometres and has an attractive route that runs through the main streets of the neighbourhood and also passes through the city centre.

Cursa El Corte Inglés

This is one of the races with the highest number of participants because entry is free. It’s a true celebration of community sport, with a fast course that starts in the upper part of Avinguda Diagonal and finishes in the heart of the city. It is also ten kilometres long and takes place in May.

Bombers

Popularly known as Bombers, this is an unmissable race. It runs through Barcelona’s most important streets and stands out for the large number of firefighters taking part, some of them carrying the heavy equipment they work with. It is held in November and, like the others, is ten kilometres long.

Cursa dels Nassos

We finish this overview of the most notable fun runs with the Cursa dels Nassos. It takes place on the afternoon of 31 December and is the last 10K of the year — a great way to finish it in style. And of course, there’s no shortage of people running dressed as Father Christmas.
