Guide to Conscious and Sustainable Shopping in Barcelona

As you know, at Mucha Masia we are committed to caring for the environment, promoting sustainability, and believing in reuse and second chances. That’s why we’ve created this guide to conscious and sustainable shopping in Barcelona — a guide where you’ll find spaces and establishments selling all kinds of reused products, from clothing to tech devices.

Mercat dels Encants

The Mercat dels Encants is one of the oldest markets in Europe, offering a wide variety of both new and second-hand items. Among its stalls, you’ll find antiques, clothes, books, furniture, and collector’s items — all within a vibrant, multicultural atmosphere. It’s open on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Humana

Humana is a second-hand clothing shop that promotes sustainability and responsible consumption. It collects and sells reused garments, with profits going towards social and environmental projects. In Barcelona, it has 23 shops, including the one on Ronda Universitat, which specialises in vintage clothing, and another on Gran de Gràcia.

Clothing by weight

Let’s stay with clothing — as the fast-paced consumption of fashion has a huge negative impact on the environment, it’s important to encourage more sustainable alternatives. One such option is buying reused clothing by weight, a common practice in several shops on Carrer dels Tallers, such as Flamingos Vintage.

Moda re-

And we close the clothing block with the local proposal: Moda re-. This store, located in the Plaza de Roigé i Badia of El Prat de Llobregat, our municipality, stands out for recycling textiles, promoting the circular economy and generating inclusive employment. A must visit if you are thinking of renewing your wardrobe.

CeX

If technology is your thing, CeX is your shop. Here you’ll find all kinds of electronic devices: mobile phones, laptops, video game consoles, and, more recently, e-scooters. They also sell films and video games in physical format. You can sell them your old gadgets or exchange them for others they have in stock. Like Humana, CeX has several shops across the city (Passeig de Sant Joan, Floridablanca, and more).

We hope this guide to second-hand shops and sustainable shopping in Barcelona has been helpful — and remember, whenever possible, shop consciously and sustainably.
