Discover the best places to celebrate Carnival in Barcelona

Carnival is one of the first festivals of the year and is also one of the most eagerly anticipated. It’s a weekend where we can let our wild side show and wear our best costumes. If you enjoy it as much as we do, don’t miss this blog post, as we’ll discover the best places to celebrate Carnival in the province of Barcelona.

El Prat de Llobregat

We’ll start close to home, because as you well know, Mucha Masia is located in El Prat de Llobregat. However, we wouldn’t recommend its Carnival if we weren’t sure it rivals those in neighbouring towns. On the town hall’s website, you’ll find a section (yet to be updated) listing all the activities happening during this year’s Carnival. Among our favourites are the omelette competition and the float parade.

Sitges

Sitges’ Carnival is one of the most notable in the region, and this small coastal town really goes all out in preparing for and celebrating the event. To give you an idea, it’s a bit like our Rio de Janeiro. You can check out the 2025 programme through this link, and bear in mind that you can get to Sitges from El Prat station (you’ll need to take the train heading to Vilanova i la Geltrú).

Barcelona

Undoubtedly, Barcelona is one of the best places to enjoy Carnival. With activities that last a week, the city’s Carnival stands out for having more than fifty parades. You’ll find key information in this Betevé article. As you know, getting to Barcelona from Mucha Masia by public transport is very easy. Also, on the Saturday to Sunday night, the metro runs all night long.

Vilanova i la Geltrú

And to finish: the Carnival of Vilanova i la Geltrú (we assume it’s not necessary to explain how to get there). This town, located near Sitges, also holds a lively and colourful Carnival, with activities starting on 27th February and running until 5th March. You can find more details on their website.
