Enjoy the sun and the beach before heading back home

With summer just around the corner, it is time to talk about how to enjoy the sun and the beach. Because, before heading back home, you cannot do without a beach day to round off your stay in Mucha Masia.

That is why, in this blog post, we will tell you all the possibilities offered by the beach of el Prat de Llobregat, the municipality where we are located. We will also explain how to get there and give you some tips to enjoy the beach responsibly and safely.

The el Prat de Llobregat Beach

The el Prat de Llobregat Beach is a unique space on the coast of the province of Barcelona. As it is separated from the urban centre of the municipality by the airport, it is a practically unspoilt beach, unaffected by invasive constructions, and has crystal clear water.

It is a 5.5-kilometer-long stretch of sand located between the sea and the pine forest of Can Camins, an important protected forest that can be visited on certain dates. Its extensive length makes it easy for different bathers to find a comfortable space, including naturists.

The Municipal Sailing Centre

At the northeast end of the beach is the Municipal Sailing Centre, whose main objective is to promote activities and water sports.

Do you want to learn how to surf or sail on a catamaran? The Municipal Sailing Centre offers introductory courses that will allow you to progress in these activities. Discover the courses on this website.

The Beach Bars

The el Prat de Llobregat Beach has three beach bars that quench the thirst and hunger of bathers. Additionally, some evenings, they organize parties that last until dawn.

The CRAM

The beach also houses the facilities of the Foundation for the Conservation and Recovery of Marine Animals. This foundation rescues all kinds of marine animals, cares for them until they recover, and returns them to the sea.

Yes, dolphins like the one in the photo also, which are sometimes seen on the same beach of el Prat de Llobregat.

The CRAM also offers various activities and visits (check this website).

How to Get There

In addition to by private vehicle, you can reach the beach by bus PR3, which runs every 30 minutes. The closest stop to Mucha Masia is Plaza de la Vila, in front of the town hall building. The last bus back from the beach leaves at 21:15. Do not miss it!

You can also walk or cycle along the path that runs alongside the airport. However, on the hottest days, we recommend avoiding the midday hours, as not all sections have shade. If you choose this option, you can take a break at the aeroplane viewpoint.

Tips

Finally, here are some tips that you should not overlook to enjoy the sun and the beach.

The first is to apply sunscreen. Yes, it seems obvious, but we always come across people as red as tomatoes.

The second is to respect the instructions of the lifeguards. During the summer season (from May to October), the Lifeguard and Rescue Service ensures the safety of bathers. They are the ones who place the flags indicating whether swimming is allowed (green), caution should be exercised (yellow), or if it is not allowed (red).
