The Gomis House, an architectural jewel in El Prat
Very few people know the existence of a real architectural treasure in El Prat de Llobregat. A special and surprising house
Casa Gomis is one of the most valuable examples of rationalist architecture in Catalonia. It is the work of the architect Antoni Bonet Castellana. The Gomis family wanted a groundbreaking space, surrounded by the natural environment of La Ricarda. And so this building was conceived. The family exchanged correspondence with the architect, exiled in Mexico, who directed the work from a distance. The house was inaugurated in 1963.
The undulating roof is one of its signs of distinction. If you look closely, it seems that the house is part of the landscape, with that pine forest by the sea. Other elements that we can highlight are the transparent or translucent closings and also a very appropriate furniture to the facilities.
The house was a meeting place for the cultural and social avant-garde of the late 60s and 70s. That is why this place is a real gem worth visiting.
