Muchamasia Consell Comarcal

“El Baix Llobregat” makes you fall in love

The Baix Llobregat is the region in which MuchaMasia is located. Next to Barcelona, it is the second most populated region in Catalonia. And for many it is a great unknown. It offers many close and amazing attractions. Today we are going on a tour of the Baix Llobregat. From MuchaMasia, the rural hostel urbà del Prat, we are close to everything. Next to the airport and Barcelona, and connected to the rest of the region. If you come on the May Holidays to Barcelona, visit us.

We are information point of the Baix Llobregat

As we said before in another blog post, we are working with the County Council of the region. We have been working with the Consorci de Turisme del Baix Llobregat for several days in several sessions. The objective is to become a tourist information point in our region. In this way, MuchaMasia would be the starting point for many of the trips you take to get to know the Baix. And we offer you all the necessary information to be able to enjoy every corner. The truth is that our region makes you fall in love. Below we offer three places to visit in the surroundings.

The Colonia Güell

The first marvel of the region is Colonia Güell. To go by public transport, you can go by metro to Europe / Fira and there take the Ferrocarril de la Generalitat to Colonia. It will take you half an hour to arrive. Colonia Güell is a small working colony located in the municipality of Santa Coloma de Cervelló (Barcelona). It is considered one of the references to study the architecture of Antoni Gaudí and is also one of the most modernist and tourist attractions in Catalonia. Not all Gaudí stays in the Sagrada Familia or in Barcelona.

Catalunya in Miniature

One of the most surprising curiosities to visit the region is Catalunya en Miniatura. This tourist attraction is located in Torrelles de Llobregat. It is a small mountain village, famous for its cherries and for hosting this theme park. Catalunya en Miniatura is a model park of the main buildings in Catalonia. In an hour and a half we could say that you will see all of Catalonia and its main monuments.

If you dare, you can release adrenaline in the adventure zone installed in the park itself.

Salnitre Caves

And of course, we could not finish without visiting one of the natural wonders of the region. We talk about the Cuevas del Salnitre, in Collbató. It is a town located in the north of Baix Llobregat. If you are going to visit Montserrat, stop in Collbató. And there is a treasure there. We talk about the underground caves of Collbató. They are caves belonging to the massif of Montserrat, karstic system, in conglomerate, mainly calcareous; rich in phosphate minerals, formerly there were saltpeter farms. Inside you can find the largest set of rooms in Catalonia. Its organic and undulating forms inspired Gaudí for works such as the Sagrada Familia. It’s amazing, right?

The Olympic Canal of Castelldefels

The 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games left a mark on our memory and on many facilities. In the Baix Llobregat we find the Olympic Canal, in Castelldefels. It was the venue for the rowing and canoeing competitions at the Olympics. Today it has become a center for nautical activities for all types of public. From paddling, to try Kitesurfing and much more.

Archaeological Park of the Mines of Gavà

More than 6000 years of history. In the municipality of Gavà, ten minutes from El Prat, is this prehistoric mine. We know that “these are the oldest gallery mines in Europe and the only ones dedicated to the extraction of variscite, a mineral used to make ornaments that were exchanged in complex networks of the western Mediterranean.

They have also recovered singular remains such as the trepanado skull and the Venus de Gavà “.

So you see. When we tell you that the region can make you fall in love, we’re serious.
