Staff Yaiza Muccha

STAFF: YAIZA RODRÍGUEZ

The next few days you will know a little bit more about each of MuchaMasia’s staff members. As we told you in this post, each of us has a story and a way of life. Today we are meeting Yaiza Rodríguez.

Who is Yaiza?

Yaiza is the audacious girl. She is 27 years old and is from Mallorca. She speaks Spanish, English, Catalan and French. She has a bachelor’s degree in teaching, and has always been dedicated to education. Yaiza is an inveterate traveler and stops in Barcelona because she is not afraid of change. She loves to travel and discover.

A friend of her stayed at the hostel and this is how she knew us. She loved the place and, as she is the girl without fear, she introduced herself with a resume and said: I love MuchaMasia I want to be part of it.

Yaiza is a Receptionist, in charge of the translation of texts on the web and programming the hostel’s internal activities.

Why am I here?

The first time I came in to the hostel Mucha Masia was to accompany a friend who was visiting me and staying at the hostel. As soon as I went through the door… I fell in love with the place, in love and in shock. I had been living in El Prat for a few months and that was a small paradise that had the audacity to be out of tune with everything around it. At the same time it had a certain air of belonging to the place, as if it knew that it was its site. After falling in love with the physical place I was dazzled by its energy … you can feel peace when you go through the doors of Mucha Masia, it’s like a balm. Finally I met some of the staff and with his warmth and his smile I swear that that place stole a part of my heart … Why am I here? Because this project was created with so much love and enthusiasm that I wanted to be part of it. Be in Mucha Masia is my work now but the word “work” brings negative connotations of boredom, laziness, stagnation … Not here, not in Mucha Masia. It’s a job… but it’s also a home, a place that draws a smile in my face.

What do I do in MuchaMasia?

If we have to put a name on it, my role in the hostel is like receptionist, but anyone who knows us knows that we are a bit of everything. It is clear that someone needs to do the tasks that the reception requires, but each one of us contributes his energy when he is there,we take care that people feel joy and peace and we enjoy the stories and experiences that our guests tell us. As a specific task, I am also in charge of the translations of texts that will be published in any of the networks and pages in which we participate so the language is not an obstacle so that everyone can know everything we do.

Yaiza MuchaMasia Staff

Three essential places in your life

The island where I grew up, Mallorca, would be the first. It is necessary to step on it from time to time to once again feel its rhythm of life in the veins.

Any table in any bar, as long as it is surrounded by my friends.

My bed and a book … As a place I need to return every day to be at peace!

An unforgettable trip

From 2016 to 2017 I spent 7 months traveling as a backpacker. I met places like Italy, India, Cambodia, Thailand, Indonesia and France. It was a trip that changed me a lot and I learned a lot about the world but above all about myself. The places I saw and the people I met made that trip one of the best decisions and experiences of life. In the hostel I sometimes meet guests doing something similar and a lot of sensations overwhelm me … If I lived a thousand times more, I would repeat the experience.

A trip I want to forget

A difficult one… I do not think there are any of my trips that were not worth it. On each trip you learn and enjoy so I could not choose one that I wish to forget. Traveling is living in all its meaning.

Sea or mountain?

Phew! I would say … sea. Being from Mallorca the sea is part of my life, km of water as far as the eye can see… But the peace that the mountain gives you also makes me very happy.

My favorite dish

Without a doubt, the Cuban rice prepared by my grandmother. No one will ever know how to make it so good, no matter how easy the recipe is.

A movie

Mr. Nobody.

A song

Je veux by the French singer Zaz.

What would you recommend to all visitors to MuchaMasia?

I would recommend several things. One is to order a pizza and a beer and sit on the terrace to enjoy the calm and peace. Another would be to know the Staff because each of us has a different charm that is worth to know. I recommend discovering El Prat, its streets, its people, ride a bike and enjoy the fantastic path that takes to the beach. They should also took advantage of how close it is from Barcelona, by metro or train they can go to the center and discover the city to return at the end of the day, tired but satisfied to the hostel. But above all, they should feel Mucha Masia as their home even if it is only for a few days, they don’t need to be afraid to walk around the hostel, to meet people, to relax in their spaces … MuchaMasia is also our home and we like that everyone who comes to know us can feel the same way.
