The “Delta del Llobregat” is a nature reserve that has been protected for many years thanks to the Llobregat River. The “Delta del Llobregat”, at just 10 minutes from the centre of Barcelona, is a protected nature reserve with an array of salt water lagoons to discover. “Las Laguna del Remolar”, “La Ricarda” and “Los Espacios Naturales del Rio” have become the principal stop over points for migratory birds. They are the birthing place of so many different kinds of species, the main kind being aquatic birds. In the winter, it’s relatively easy to spot different types of Anatidae as well as the Bittern variety. The Llobregat Delta is also one of the few places in the Mediterranean basin where, during the summer months, the Audouin’s gull takes up residence just to reproduce. The Common Shelduck and the Kentish Plover are some more examples of the most emblematic species found here in the Delta Llobregat. During the migration season, Wader birds are the leading species, arriving to register themselves as one of the only species in the Iberian Peninsula.
