The shortest night of the year

The night of 23th to 24th June is the shortest night of the year. Throughout the Mediterranean area the night of San Juan is held by a celebration that coincides with the summer solstice and where all the inhabitants of towns and cities go out to the streets to celebrate that the sun beats to shadows.

Enjoying the Night of San Juan on the beach is a tradition in places like El Prat and Barcelona, where people go in groups to dinner, dancing and enjoying swimming at night cause it is said that purifies. Other choice is joining to the many parties organized in places with neighbours. Around bonfires, the neighbors have dinner, eat coca de Sant Joan (a typical sweet) and drink cava. Children throw firecrackers and later everyone enjoy dancing. In El Prat you can enjoy this kind of parties the neighborhoods of Barceloneta and Jardins de la Pau.

If you prefer to stay  in just chilling out  and be the first in the morning to give you a swim at the beach. It’s also worthy.
