Discover the Llobregat Delta this winter

We are in the midst of winter, and we believe this is one of the best times of the year to discover the Llobregat Delta. Why? Because we won’t experience the heat of other seasons. And we’ll have the chance to see birds that stay with us during the colder months and are more elusive in spring, when there are more visitors. So, if you’re staying at Mucha Masia and a sunny day comes along, don’t hesitate: explore the Llobregat Delta.

Places of Interest

Natural Spaces of the River: These areas offer a great variety of landscapes, and in the Cal Tet and Sabogal wetlands, you can observe a wide range of birds. These spaces are open for independent visits, although on the second Sunday of each month, they can also be visited with a guide (no prior booking required).

The newly opened flamingo viewpoint, although located in the Natural Spaces, deserves a special mention. It is the perfect place to observe these impressive birds, which have the Llobregat Delta as one of their main stops during migration.

La Bunyola, Carrabiners, and Semàfor: This is one of our favourite routes, and it can also be done by bike (rental available for our guests). The route follows the Bunyola canal to the coast, where we find the Carrabiners barracks and the Semàfor house. It was used to regulate maritime traffic and is now an exceptional viewpoint over the nearby virgin beach and surrounding wetlands.

Birds You Can See in winter

Among the birds we can spot in winter, we highlight the kingfisher, known for its vibrant colouring. The great cormorant, with its large wingspan. And the European lapwing, whose erect feather crest on its head is a distinguishing feature.

In line with our principles, we would like to remind you that respecting the flora and fauna and keeping natural environments clean helps preserve ecological balance, promoting a healthy and sustainable environment for all living beings. Don’t forget this during your visit to our beloved Llobregat Delta. Hope you enjoy it.
