These are the products from the Parc Agrari you should eat in autumn

November marks the beginning of the season for many products from the Parc Agrari, which will fill market stalls throughout autumn and the early winter.

At Mucha Masía, in line with our commitment to sustainability, we always support locally grown foods from the Parc Agrari. These are zero-kilometre products, and consuming them promotes food sovereignty, which is essential in the fight against climate change.

In this blog post, we recommend some of the seasonal products from the Parc Agrari that you should eat in autumn, suggest a few recipes, and provide a list of places where you can buy them and restaurants where you can eat and enjoy them.

Chard

Chard is a low-calorie leafy green vegetable, rich in vitamins A, C, and K. It also contains minerals such as iron and magnesium and has antioxidant properties.

Recipe: Sauté chard with garlic and olive oil. Add beaten eggs (preferably if they are Pota Blava), salt, and pepper, and cook slowly until you have a delicious chard omelette.

Broccoli

Broccoli is a vegetable rich in fibre, vitamins C and K, and antioxidants. But that’s not all: it also has anti-inflammatory properties and is excellent for bone and cardiovascular health. It can be eaten raw, steamed, boiled, or roasted.

Recipe: Steam broccoli until tender. Sauté garlic in olive oil, add the broccoli, and mix with lemon juice and a bit of grated cheese for a light and nutritious dish.

Calçot

One of the stars of Catalan gastronomy, the calçot is a type of onion known for its mild, sweet flavour. It is mainly eaten grilled at traditional calçotades and is a source of fibre, vitamin C, and antioxidants.

Recipe: Grill the calçots until slightly charred on the outside. Then peel off the outer layer and dip them in romesco sauce (made from tomatoes, almonds, garlic, and peppers).

Apple

The apple is a versatile and nutritious fruit, low in calories, which aids digestion and contributes to cardiovascular health. It can be eaten fresh, cooked, or in desserts.

Recipe: Slice apples thinly and place them in a pan with a little butter, sugar, and cinnamon. Cook slowly until softened and caramelised. Serve with vanilla ice cream for a simple and delicious dessert.

Where to buy them

Without a doubt, the Mercat de Pagès in El Prat de Llobregat is the ideal place to buy seasonal products from the Parc Agrari. You’ll find it on Saturday mornings in Pau Casals Square.

You can also find them at the municipal market in Vila Square during the rest of the week, except on Sundays when the market is closed.

Where to eat them

In El Prat de Llobregat, the city where we are located, many restaurants include products from the Parc Agrari in their dishes. L’Artesà, La Capsa, Restaurant Catalunya i Aragó, and Viva (a vegetarian restaurant) are some of them. Discover the rest on this website.
