A summer without outdoor cinema, is not a summer!!

Summer is the time of outdoor cinema. To see those movies that we like in a different format. Or to discover new proposals on a screen next to the sea. These summer days open many proposals to enjoy outdoor cinema. The Preview, Prat shorts festival, the cinema on the beach, or outdoors in Montjuic. If you like movies, this summer you have several proposals that you will like. We remind you that Muchamasia is the rural hostel urbà del Prat connected to ten minutes from the airport and the center of Barcelona. It is the moment of cinema “a la fresca”.

Preview, Prat shorts festival

Speaking of outdoor cinema in El Prat is talking about the Preview, the international short film festival. This year we celebrate its seventh edition and each time it has more prestige and more participants who want to show their work. The Preview is organized in the Cèntric Gastrobar and has the support of the ASCAP, with whom we already organized a short pass in our house last winter.

The Preview is celebrated throughout four sessions that correspond to the Thursdays of the month of July. Throughout each session the selected shorts will be seen and the public will be able to vote to choose the winners. On the last day of the festival, the winners will be announced and the end of the party will be celebrated. Each short pass can be accompanied by a small beer or a beer.

The Preview can be enjoyed in the porch of the Cèntric Espai Cultural, five minutes walk from MuchaMasia.

Outdoor cinema on the beach

And if something can make the summer perfect, it’s watching a movie on the beach. For some time now, the Cinema Lliure cycle has taken place on the beach. On the beaches of Barcelona, Badalona, Mataró and El Prat, cinema is projected on the big screen and on the seashore from June 28.

At El Prat beach, which you can access on one of our rental bicycles, the session days will be Saturdays. On Saturday July 14 will be screened “Summer 1993”, the day 21 “E Menino e O Mundo”. The cycle will close “Una Mujer Fantastica” on Saturday, July 28. All acts are free entry. In addition, concerts and screening of shorts are offered prior to the film.

We put music to the movie in La Capsa

Another option to enjoy outdoor cinema is the one proposed by our friends from La Capsa. La Capsa is the center of contemporary culture of the Prat and every summer they organize a film and music session. The peculiarity of this event is that the music is performed live while the film is being shown. Musicians of the city give their personal touch to silent films. The experience is amazing and lets you take the magic of classic cinema. Do not miss it. They are every Wednesday.

Cinema in Montjuic

And if you are in love with the city of Barcelona, we suggest you participate in the open-air cinema of the Sala Montjuic. Actually, it is not a room. The moat of the old military castle of Montjuic is transformed into a large movie theater.

The locals meet at nightfall to enjoy a short film, music and the screening of a film. In addition, everyone takes their picnic and creates a very familiar atmosphere to enjoy the cinema. Check the schedule on their website, but we give you an advance with this video.
