We like our visitors to know and integrate in El Prat de Llobregat. This time is easy. Enjoy the Festa del Riu i de la Bici as an inhabitant of El Prat. La Festa de la Bici is a massive bike ride through the streets and rural roads of El Prat. Until you reach the Llobregat River Park. There lunch will be distributed (a botifarra sandwich) and a raffle of cycling equipment.
It is a non-competitive ride and brings together families and people of all ages. Registration is free and you just have to follow the people. It is fun. If you want to participate, ask us, we rent the bicycles that we have.
And after the bike, the Festa del Riu begins. It is a party that has been held for several years to commemorate the recovery of the urban stretch of the Llobregat as it passes through El Prat. And we celebrate this Festa del Riu because we recover the Llobregat river. A few years ago, the Llobregat was an open air sewer. The water did not go down purified and contained a high level of polluting substances. The people lived with their backs to the river. With the installation of the Baix Llobregat water treatment plant, the quality of the water began to improve. In addition to the construction of the Fluvial Park, the city gained a new space. A large park that runs parallel to the river with green spaces, bike lanes, place to practice outdoor sports.
Now the river comes down with clean water and life has recovered around it. Water birds, fish, rabbits and wild boar are already the usual landscape of the area. And the river has become a point of disconnection from the routine for many citizens of Prat de Llobregat.
